Siân Davey’s second book ‘Martha’, published in 2018 by Trolley Books.

“Inevitably, the work is also about Martha and myself. I am always there as the photographer, as her step-mother, as a mentor and a friend. However, who I am and where I place myself in the story becomes a more questioning issue as she grows and moves further away from her childhood. The exchange of looks between us, that complex reflected gaze, begins to shift as she tries to define her own sense of self.”

Siân is a UK based photographer with a background in Fine Art and Social Policy. Her photography is an investigation of the psychological landscapes of both herself and those around her. Davey’s four children and her community are central to her practice and she draws upon her childhood years as a constant narrative.

Her work is widely exhibited, collected and published, and she has been shortlisted for both the Prix Pictet and Prix Elysee.
