This Alec Soth portrait was chosen by Adam for his contribution to System magazine’s latest issue focused on fashion photography. The image was originally published in W Magazine, April 2007, and was styled by Camilla Nickerson.

Explaining the origins of this story, Soth wrote on his blog, “Dennis Freedman approached me about doing a project. I’ve been doing a ton of travelling and was eager to work near home. radical ideas for what constituted a fashion editorial, regularly commissioning photographers who would not ordinarily shoot fashion, such as Philip-Lorca diCorcia and Tina Barney, to build a visual archive of the American experience with a fashion tilt.”
